Started reading this book today. I read the first chapter and couldn’t figure some of the stuff he is saying. Chapter 2 seems to be better. Wish me luck…

Today I finished reading “Freedom” by Jonathan Franzen. I “bought” it last September. I didn’t have any intention of buying it but I had a coupon to get a book and I went to several stores to get a Chuck Klosterman book but none of the stores had any or would order the book that I wanted. So I was stuck in a book store, watching the shelves full of books and couldn’t really decide which book to get, because I was pretty sure that I would get the Klosterman book that I wanted. So I saw “Freedom” and I took it in my hand, read the back cover and put it back to the shelf. I’d heard a lot of stuff about the book but I never thought of reading it and the story didn’t really intrigue me. So I kept looking and looking and I’m finding nothing interesting. I was probably in the store for an hour or so, I must have made the salesman feel uncomfortable. To cut a long story short I got “Freedom” after thinking that I’m not giving any of my money to buy this book and if I don’t like it I could donate it to the town library.
After reading it I put it in my top25 of the books that I’ve read. Finally I’ve found a good down to earth story, with real characters that have real problems. I’ll give it a 4.7/6
